About Quick Photo Editor & Filters
Edits are implemented as a parameterized filter pipeline mapped onto Canvas 2D (ctx.filter with brightness/contrast/saturate/blur/grayscale/sepia/hue-rotate) plus geometric transforms for rotate/flip drawn through ctx.setTransform. Brightness multiplies channel values around mid-grey; contrast stretches luminance about a pivot of 0.5; saturation interpolates toward luma in linear-ish sRGB approximation. Warmth shifts red/blue balance without a full white-balance matrix. Preset filters are composites — Vintage, for example, layers reduced saturation, slight sepia, raised contrast and a vignette drawn as a radial gradient overlay. Rotation uses 90° steps so non-integer angles cannot leave ragged alpha edges; flips mirror the pixel matrix before filters apply. Export re-renders at device pixel ratio capped by the source dimensions (never upscale beyond the original bitmap), then canvas.toBlob encodes JPEG with quality slider (default 0.92) or lossless PNG. Memory is entirely local; undo restores the previous parameter snapshot from a small history stack. Edge cases: zero-dimension images reject upload; very large files (>~40 MP) may warn before processing; HEIC must be converted first with the dedicated HEIC tool if the browser cannot decode it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the photo uploaded for editing?
No. Canvas operations run in browser memory; export is a local blob download.
Does editing reduce quality?
JPEG export re-encodes (quality slider controls this); PNG export stays lossless for the processing chain.
What formats can I load?
Anything your browser decodes natively — typically JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF first frames. Convert HEIC first if needed.
Is there a watermark?
No — exports are clean full-resolution files.
Can I edit on mobile?
Yes. Sliders and buttons are touch-friendly; canvas preview scales to the viewport.
