How to Use Markdown to PDF Converter
- Step 1: Paste your Markdown into the left editor or load the sample document to try the pipeline.
- Step 2: Check the right-hand preview for headings, code fences, lists and tables.
- Step 3: Adjust paper size (A4 / Letter) and whether a light code-block background is drawn.
- Step 4: Click Export PDF to generate the file and start the download.
- Step 5: Iterate on the Markdown and re-export as many times as you need — each export is a fresh document.
About Markdown to PDF Converter
Markdown is converted to a block structure (headings, paragraphs, lists, code, quotes, tables) with a small parser tailored to common GFM-style syntax. For PDF export, text is measured with canvas measureText using a serif/sans stack and wrapped to the content column width; block spacing follows a vertical cursor with page-break checks so paragraphs never split mid-line awkwardly when avoidable. Fenced code uses a monospaced face and an optional tinted rectangle drawn before the lines. Tables render as header + rows with column widths proportional to header text. Links print as underlined text plus the URL in parentheses when the href differs from the label — PDFs from this tool are not interactive hyperlinked documents (pdf-lib basic drawing has no annotation API in this pipeline). Page size chooses MediaBox dimensions (A4 595×842 pt, Letter 612×792 pt); margins are fixed at 48 pt. Fonts rely on core PDF fonts (Helvetica/Helvetica-Bold/Courier/Times) embedded by pdf-lib, so output stays small. Unicode beyond Latin-1 may fall back or drop with core fonts — stick to standard character sets for best fidelity. Everything runs in RAM; the final Blob downloads locally.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Markdown uploaded?
No — parsing, preview and PDF generation all run in the browser tab.
Are links clickable in the PDF?
URLs are printed as text next to the label; interactive link annotations are not added by this exporter.
Which Markdown features are supported?
Headings, emphasis, links, inline code, fences, blockquotes, hr, ordered/unordered lists and pipe tables cover most docs; exotic extensions like footnotes may pass through as plain text.
Why does some Unicode look wrong?
Core PDF fonts are Latin-1 oriented; emoji or CJK may be missing. Use ASCII/extended Latin for reliable output.
Can I pick fonts and themes?
Paper size and code-block shading are available; advanced theme controls may arrive later — preview CSS stays intentionally simple.
