Markdown to HTML Converter Online Free
Write Markdown on the left and watch semantic HTML render on the right in real time. Headings, bold/italic, links, images, inline code, fenced code blocks, ordered and unordered lists, blockquotes, horizontal rules, GFM tables and strikethrough are all converted to tidy markup you can paste into a CMS, email template or static site. The output is escaped safely — raw HTML in the source is neutralized by default so snippets stay trustworthy.

About Markdown to HTML Converter
Conversion works in two passes. Inline parsing rewrites character-level markup: backslash escapes disable specials, `code spans` protect content from further parsing, images and links [text](href "title") become <img> and <a>, **strong** and __strong__ become <strong>, *em* and _em_ become <em>, ~~strike~~ becomes <del>, and bare autolinks are optional. Block parsing then splits the document on blank lines into blocks: ATX headings (# → h1 … ###### → h6), setext underlines, fenced code ``` with language class for highlighters, indented code, blockquotes (>> nesting), horizontal rules (---, ***, ___), and lists — ordered (1.) and unordered (-, *, +) with nesting by indentation, each becoming ul/ol > li. GitHub-style tables parse header/body rows with pipe alignment colons (:---:, ---:, ---:) mapped to align attributes. Paragraphs collapse internal newlines to spaces and wrap in <p>. Security-wise, literal HTML tags in the source are entity-escaped (<div>) so untrusted Markdown cannot inject scripts — a deliberate choice for CMS pipelines; strip the escape step only for fully trusted input. The result is deterministic plain text output, not a framework component tree, making it ideal for storing in databases or emailing. Performance is linear in document size; typical README files convert under a millisecond per keystroke with debounced rendering.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is raw HTML in my Markdown executed?
No — tags are escaped to entities by default so untrusted input cannot inject scripts or styles.
Which Markdown flavor is supported?
CommonMark basics plus GitHub-flavored extras: tables, strikethrough and fenced code with language classes.
Can I get a full HTML document instead of a fragment?
Yes — enable the document wrapper option to receive html/head/body scaffolding around the fragment.
Are footnotes and task lists supported?
Task lists (- [ ]) render as list items; footnote syntax is not yet implemented and passes through as text.
Does conversion happen online?
No — the converter runs fully client-side; your drafts stay in the browser tab.
